1. The chiquita: which net player's feet? Thursday, 10 September 2026 · intermediate
Both opponents are at the net. You have the ball for a chiquita. Which one do you aim at?
- The deeper one, or the weaker low-volleyer
- The one closest to the net, at their feet
- Always the player on your diagonal
2. First serve missed. What does the second serve look like? Friday, 11 September 2026 · beginner
Your first serve landed long. How does the second serve differ from the first?
- Exactly the same as the first
- Same swing, safer target, still with slice
- Much slower and higher, to make sure it lands
3. The returner keeps hitting the same cross-court drive. Do you poach? Saturday, 12 September 2026 · advanced
You are the server's partner at the net. The returner has driven cross-court to the server three points in a row. Do you cut across and intercept the next one?
- Yes: go as they commit; the server covers your line
- No: stay on your side, the server can handle it
- Yes: move early so they can see you and change their shot
4. A smash is coming at you. What is your job? Sunday, 13 September 2026 · intermediate
They have a comfortable smash and you are defending at the back. What are you actually trying to do?
- Give it room, play the rebound high and deep
- Charge forward and take it early
- Block it back hard and low, straight away
5. When is a víbora the right overhead? Monday, 14 September 2026 · intermediate
You have a lob that is slightly short of a full bandeja. What does the víbora offer and when do you use it?
- On every lob, as a harder bandeja
- When the lob is very deep
- A slightly short lob, side-spun into the glass
6. The ball is going back glass then side glass. Where do you stand? Tuesday, 15 September 2026 · advanced
A deep ball is heading into your corner and it will hit the back wall and then the side wall. Where do you position yourself?
- A metre deeper and wider than instinct says
- Right where the ball will hit the side glass
- In the middle of your half, ready to move
- Straight back, level with the far corner
7. You are stuck deep in the corner. What do you hit? Wednesday, 16 September 2026 · intermediate
They have pushed you into the back corner and you are hitting from behind the service line, off balance. What now?
- A drop shot to change the pattern
- High and deep, cross-court
- A sharp angle down the line

- B Second serve: same motion, same slice, safer target. Never a slower flat pat. https://thebandejalab.com/puzzle/second-serve-same-swing/
- A A repeated pattern is a poach. Move as they commit, finish through the middle, partner covers your line. https://thebandejalab.com/puzzle/the-net-player-poaches/
- A You are not trying to win this ball. You are trying to still be in the point two shots from now. https://thebandejalab.com/puzzle/defending-the-smash/
- C The víbora is a fast, side-sliced overhead for a lob slightly short of a bandeja. Aim it into the side glass so it dies. https://thebandejalab.com/puzzle/the-vibora-when/
- A A double wall spits the ball out later and wider. Start deeper and wider than feels right. https://thebandejalab.com/puzzle/double-wall-in-the-corner/
- B Bad position, simple shot. High, deep, cross: buy time and get your feet back. https://thebandejalab.com/puzzle/no-angle-from-the-corner/
